recent visitor

I noticed Carlos was staring intently out the back door the other day but instead of the bird I was expecting there was this...

so then Roxie, wondered what we were staring at...

and I let her go outside so the squirrel could play with her.

no really, it would come down, just out of her reach and run back up the tree when she jumped at it. I don't usually see squirrels in the back yard because of Roxie.

evening conversation (with blurry pictures)...

MK: "aaaagh, I can't stand this carpet! get me outta here!"

RTO: what?

MK: oh, that's my slug impression. of this one over here.

RTO: I don't see it.

MK: It's right there!

RTO: oh.

MK: ugh, and there's another one, but he's smart and heading back for the door.

RTO: huh

MK:

RTO: oh hey, there's another one...

MK: yeah, he died a few days ago.

RTO: a few days ago!?

MK: I don't touch slugs.

RTO: *goes and gets salt*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

RTO: you do NOT want to go out there. they're everywhere!

what is it?

Labels:

oh joy!

Adderall may have a drying effect on vocal fold tissues, which can lead to hoarseness, soreness, voice changes or laryngitis. Additionally, dry vocal tissues may be more prone to injuries such as nodules.

I was listening to last week's lesson yesterday and was really annoyed by it. So today I thought I'd work the same song and see if I couldn't fix what I thought I was hearing and just wound up getting even more frustrated (high G should not be a problem. ever.) anyhoo, this may explain it.

the saddest lemon...

RTO planted a Meyer lemon tree in the back yard a couple years ago. but later he decided to put it in a pot and bring it indoors during the winter. Last December it bloomed and started growing a few lemons. All but one had dropped off when he decided it would probably stay warm enough for it to be back outside for a while. Anyhoo, I have a few pictures...

I think this is from February

Then tragedy struck. It fell off when RTO moved the pot outside.

but of course we had to dissect it.

The tree has been moved in and out another time since then and it started blooming again. which, I don't know if it's supposed to do that, but it will be interesting to see if any lemons make it farther along next time.

two cats (one calico, possibly Kitty, and one tabby with socks)
two dogs (together, one pitbull and his mini-me)
three ducklings
no snakes, no dead possum I've seen on the road since yesterday.

update: I totally forgot the bunny. There was a little boy trying to close in on him. oh, and a turtle, but the boy told us it was dead.

and in other news...

The Kimball spinet has left the building.

I've messed up the "getting to sleep at a reasonable time" thing tonight.

OTOH, I don't have a rehearsal or performance tomorrow so I could probably get a nap in, if I need to.

caught up on Castle and Fringe this weekend, but there are two operas eating up the dvr space. (figured out that Great Performances at the Met is a "series" so I don't have to check the schedule anymore, I just told the dvr to record the series. yay!)

processing...

You'll probably want to skip this one...

I got asked if I wanted to go to "The Hospital" today. which I don't quite understand. How is that going to help with my sleeping and crying all the time for the past week?

Anyhoo, the doctor asked me to give the new drugs a couple more weeks to kick in and in the mean time I'm trying some adderall to get me started in the mornings. which will hopefully help with the frustration of not getting anything done the last few weeks. and maybe I'll finally learn all my stupid words and music for Sweeney Todd (it only opens Friday...no hurry).

according to the Rodenator website, it works on armadillos too.

early morning

Had to take maggie to the kitty dentist this morning...

do you have any idea where you're going?

probably drove by the place five times before I found it and of course any time I changed direction or hit the breaks maggie had to comment. I kept checking the map on my phone, they had told me they were just south of 635 on Coit. and they were it's just it was a tiny building amongst a bunch of office towers that had this little tooth shaped sign on the side that said "Vet dentist".

So, I got maggie all checked in and the vet explained to me what they would be doing, apparently she has the kitty equivelent of cavities and she's probably going to have many teeth pulled today. they will call with updates throughout the day.

update: they called and said they would definitely pull two teeth and did I want to fill the third or pull it? um, what would you do? fill it. okay.

update 2: just got a call that she made it through and I can pick her up after 3:30.

you can see more animal posts at the Friday Ark.

late thoughts....

It'd be nice if my husband was awake for a while after I got home... I saw him long enough before rehearsal to get a Crunch bar from him.

Mostly, tonight was very interesting and I have no one to vent at.

not helping myself...

I was trying to be all "sleepy time nazi" but with rehearsal ramping up that's gone to heck. I'm still not sleeping well at night without help, and I've started adding fairly regular naps, but I think that has more to do with "show routine" than anything else. 20 minutes between work and rehearsal is usually pretty refreshing.

anyhoo, that's what's up with me lately. maggie will be visiting a kitty dentist Friday because they found out her molars on the side she lost her fang were cracked and she's going to need more work than our vet can handle. She doesn't seem to be too bothered by it at the moment, except that we have to give her two antibiotic pills every day till her dental thing.

What are they doing in there?

Roxie waited outside the bathroom door and looked concerned while Carlos got his bath.

That does not sound like fun.

Should I go in there?
