well for starters...

just in my in box....
Dear Fellow Patriot,

Will you join me for a 30 minute strategy call on Thursday, September 30th at 4:30 PM?

My colleague in the GOP Young Guns program, Representative Kevin McCarthy, and I would like to discuss with you how we can work together over the next 35 days to take America back.

We will be taking questions and suggestions from you. Click here to join us.We're looking forward to talking with you.

Regards,
Eric Cantor
House Republican Whip

suggestion? howsabout scheduling your call for a time that most people aren't still at work! Second suggestion, drop the "take America back" thing. I know, I know, it's hilarious how it freaks out a few libs who used to use the same phrase years ago, for me it's just another one of those "just cause they did it, doesn't make it cool" things.

Anyhoo, while I'm briefly on politics, we went to a candidate forum Saturday night and it was entertaining. Maybe two Dem candidates even mentioned what party they were representing on the ticket while the others were asking that people please vote for the candidate, not the party.

Libertarian candidates still run the gamut from kooky to loony.

And I really hate having to vote for judges. There were like five bajillion judicial candidates there and most of them just asked that people please vote the whole ballot. "We're down here!!!"

South Pacific

*intro for This Nearly Was Mine begins*

MK: oh man, I'm just gonna start bawling now.

RTO: huh?

MK: This song gets to me already, but this dude singing it.... *sniff*

RTO: well, I'll cry with you.

and so we did. well, just the tears running down your face maybe I've got something in my eye kind.

This ran on the local PBS station, oh, probably a month ago, but we just watched it tonight and Mom, if you can you really should see this.

We'd watched the movie recently and it was terrible so I debated whether or not I should record it, but I'm glad I did.

I got a bit teary at the end of the first act and told RTO, "I actually care about these people" the movie ones just annoyed me, and I didn't feel like some of their actions made any sense, or were so poorly acted that i just couldn't believe it.

Other funny note, "Happy Talk" started and RTO was all, "this wasn't in the movie" uh, yeah it was and it seemed to go on for.ev.ar. probably why he didn't remember it, but in the show it's in a completely different context and is a bit disturbing... I don't think that's the right word, but it has a much darker tone.

Like I said, I'm really glad we saw this, it totally redeemed the show for me.

Lladro

so, um, wow.

in case you were wondering, I'm doing pretty good this last week. Didn't realize how much I was putting up with for so long. I can wake up before 10 and not feel sluggish all day. I've gone to work three days in a row for two whole weeks now. (I was a little late yesterday because I juuuust missed the train and figured I might as well read the paper and wait for the next one.) Still hittin' the snooze button a bit, but getting to sleep earlier and not waking up at three or four.

I think Sophie notices. heh. no, the Cesar Milan book I read he mentions quite often that dogs reflect our energy. So theoretically since I've been unbalanced she walked all over me, since I couldn't be a reliable leader. But she's finally not lunging after kitties so I'm feeling better about what happens if we don't find a new home for her. Don't completely trust her yet, but it's nice to know Albert can curl up on the back of the sofa and not be bothered. Now if we could just convince Carlos.

random music post...

the ipod has been on my mind lately (cause I really need to get more records done, but now it's looking like they may not fit... )

anyhoo, sorted by plays so the top ten....

1. Turn Around - Billy Joel - 7 plays
2. Nightingale - Norah Jones - 7 plays
3. Carpicorn:Three-Thirty AM - Dick Jacobs and his Orchestra - 6
4. Aire: Der Holle Rache kocht in mein... - Mozart - 6
5. Act 1 Chi mi riconoscerebbe? - La Rondine - 6
6. Fur Elise - Immortal Beloved soundtrack - 6
7. L.A. Blues - City of Angels soundtrack (the musical, not the movie) - 6
8. Hero - Superchick - 6
9. That's the Way it Goes - Swing out Sister - 6
10. Para el Dolor - Ana Laan - 5

Some things I expected weren't in the top ten, I figure there should have been a B-52's song in there. I think it was the shuffle that always played "Channel Z" I seem to recall hearing Rock Lobster a bit, but it didn't even make 5... checking... they come in at 3 plays.

Anyhoo, "found" some more cd's and records this weekend. itunes says i have 91.75GBs of stuff.

I'm allergic to bananas

among other things, but the local news ran a story tonight about how people allergic to ragweed can also have a reaction to certain foods, like bananas and melons. doing some quick googling, I came up with this. kinda surprised the allergist hasn't ever mentioned this.

kitchen pictures

we're aaaaalmost done... blue needs a second coat, cabinets are done.

got some new curtains, although the bay window over the sink is a conundrum. There's nowhere to attach a curtain rod, except maybe the ceiling.

so it's back to "normal"

discharged Friday. I think it helped, but I still wonder if it's just the usual "had a good cry and now I feel better" kind of thing. OTOH, I've been doing an awful lot the last week or so and not as sleepy.

Anyhoo, it's back to work Wednesday.
