not much going on. Albert is keeping on keeping on. got an infection thanks to the chemo, so he's on antibiotics again. I'm not sure if he'll get his next treatment this week or not, his white cell count was a little low and I'm guessing the infection won't help.

I did exercise two days this week, so that's good, I guess. Need to really bump it up, so maybe we'll go for three days this week. woo7!

Already got some birthday presents from RTO, some musical cd's and a lamp for work and a couple mugs. Apparently there's something else really entertaining on it's way.

Got an appointment with the therapist I asked for. we'll see how that goes in a couple weeks.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-5260323911180087152016-02-28T16:36:00.002-06:002016-02-28T16:36:31.331-06:00not to five yetI've got four books on the reading list so far. If things continue as they have at work I may get the fifth read this week.

A bit has happened with Albert since I last posted. He's been diagnosed with cancer and had his first chemo treatment. We aren't looking for a cure, there isn't one for his kind of cancer, but hoping to give him a good life while it lasts. which is probably a few months.

Everyone else is doing well. I've called a clinic about a therapist, but haven't heard back from them so I'll be calling back this week. maybe that isn't a good sign. but we had a hard time finding someone that would accept our insurance. maybe they're mostly like my Dallas therapist and they don't accept any insurance at all, but then they don't advertise much either.

RTO has gone to a Ted Cruz rally this afternoon, our primary is Tuesday. I checked online to find out where our polling place was and panicked a moment because it couldn't find my registration. I just entered the wrong month, fixed it and found the polling place. Will be glad when the commercials move on to some other states.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-20887025989223635562016-02-07T13:20:00.001-06:002016-02-07T13:20:39.055-06:00so about a month between posts. yay!I've actually finished 2 books since last I posted, but with using the tablet, it's not very convenient to post. Work is finally picking up for the new year. no more trying to stretch out what should take an hour into half the day. haven't exercised much the last couple weeks. getting up early for it is kinda hard and I seem to need more sleep than I'm getting, which is kinda discouraging.

Albert has not been doing well the last few weeks, we've tried giving him eye drops and antibiotics and steroids and his eye just keeps looking worse. So we're getting referred to a specialist. Hoping things will move tomorrow on that front cause he's getting really pathetic. He doesn't act like it bothers him really , but his sniffling is getting bad. Like, I don't know how he sleeps bad.

everyone else is fine, I suppose I may or may not be. a little disturbed that I cratered this week while RTO was gone and then it all came out at the psychiatrist's office. so I'm going back in a month and I probably need to find a therapist. just don't see how that fits in with working and sleeping and eating.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-32481808567643535512016-01-10T13:24:00.001-06:002016-01-10T13:24:57.775-06:00New year old blog
sure if I'll post much this year what with work and all. Trying out a new tablet. It's a bit clunky but then I got what I paid for I think. Anyhoo it's our slow time at work so I'm just sorting through files to be scanned. Would think with the way things work we should be picking up this week.
Critters are all good. I've stopped walking for a while until my heel feels normal. So I'm stationary biking.
just one book down so far and I've been avoiding the Smithsonian mag for a few days. Not finished with the George Elliot collection I started last year. Made I through all her novels and short stories and non fiction articles. Only poetry and some bios left but it says I'm only 64%of the way through. Ugh.

Saw Diana Krall in concert last week, it was good. Turkey day is coming and we're having people come here because I have to work the day after. yippee!maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-59966568053084273372015-11-08T20:26:00.004-06:002015-11-08T20:26:30.849-06:00just so you have an idea...If you had told me a couple months ago I'd be working 60 hours one week and go into the office on a weekend, I would have laughed in your face. but I still kinda like my job.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-75588048622259322662015-11-01T17:32:00.000-06:002015-11-01T17:32:16.790-06:00another month gone byand I've read all of two books, it think. Work is keeping me very busy, I've had to work one Saturday so far, although that turned out weird and I was only there about 45 minutes.

House is a mess right now. both living areas and the dining room/kitchen are under plastic while they paint. and they seem to be taking their sweet, sweet time. RTO's family is supposed to come for Thanksgiving, hopefully we'll have the house together by then. currently we're living in the guest and master bedrooms. probably would be just the master, but the TV doesn't quite work in there. and we've boarded the cats after coming home to little white paw prints on the floor the first day.

Had a few trick or treaters last night. not as many as I expected so we had candy left over. yay!

I've almost made it a year tracking what I eat and I have nothing to show for it except losing and regaining about 10 pounds. and the holidays are coming. I have started walking the dog again. at five in the morning. but it's preferable to going to the office gym and working out there.

sooooo, hopefully it won't be another month until I finish another book.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-12963254064564718372015-10-03T14:20:00.000-06:002015-10-03T14:20:36.433-06:00work, work, and more workwhich is the answer I gaave to "what expectations do you have for year end?" just hit the end of a quarter so it's been busy. and work has really cut into my reading time. so the last George Elliot novel, Daniel Deronda, took me forever. anyway, really not supposed to talk about work for Big Payroll. it keeps me busy, and awake.
We managed to sell the Texas house and move into the OK house, now we're waiting to unpack more stuff after the painters have done their thing, which will be at the end of the month. It's nice to have critters again anyway. and sleep in my own bed.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-68512974422000685742015-08-21T07:12:00.000-06:002015-08-21T07:12:29.677-06:00Has it really been a month?I guess so. I usually try to post when I finish a book, cause I come here to update my list, but I've skipped the last couple, I think. Anyway, things are moving on both house fronts. Don't want to get too optimistic, it could still all fall apart (it is Friday after all) but if things go as planned we should be in our new house in about a month.

I start a new job Monday, was supposed to start this week, but when they did my background check it pulled a felony conviction for some other"maggie katzen". She had a different middle initial and the arrest was before my name was even "katzen" but they had to wait to get it all sorted out. guess I will have to move my animal visiting to Saturday.

anyway, I'll be off now to see what book the trunk stash offers up.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-43646730313433538862015-07-21T14:16:00.005-06:002015-07-21T14:16:56.095-06:00just shoot me naowhouse is still on the market. ugh. I'm starting to worry about not seeing it on a regular basis. on the plus side, I'm one step closer to getting all my stuff together so I can maybe go back to work. Not a whole lot happening. We visit the animals on Fridays. and I've been reading a lot.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-25216378929832668232015-07-13T11:54:00.001-06:002015-07-13T11:54:30.115-06:00stupid monththought we'd sold the house twice now. but nooooooo. anyhoo, originally thought we had to be out by July 6th, so when they cancelled we went ahead and put our stuff in storage. so we're currently living at my mom and dad's in Edmond. it's good that the house we're interested in is going to take forever to close, cause selling our house is becoming a problem. We were going to ask for less and not fix things, but now it's looking like we'll have to make some repairs. which is really fun from over 200 miles away.

Anyhoo, Ella was taken to the Humane Society to find a new home. Everyone else is currently boarding in Norman. They will let us go visit, which RTO plans on doing every other day. transporting them wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, they were relatively quiet.

finally getting some reading done, though, so there's that.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-1199893607426978842015-06-14T19:08:00.000-06:002015-06-14T19:08:13.673-06:00crazinessso on top of selling the house, Ella has decided she can't stand Sophie and they've had a few altercations. Ella is currently in quarantine at the vet because she bit me, and we've posted on some pet sites that she needs a home where she'll be the only dog. In the mean time, Sophie seems to be getting paranoid.

so I'll be in OKC some soon to look at houses. and RTO will be "home" finally starting tomorrow. if things work out we won't be here much longer. I've been trying to pack more stuff, but it's slow going, cause I'm just lazy I guess. or a little overwhelmed, take your pick.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-19077984243754895782015-05-30T13:33:00.002-06:002015-05-30T13:33:44.950-06:00insert title herenot much going on. RTO has started annual training. The realtor sent out a couple to clean and help pack up the house. so most of the books are now out in the garage. I kept a box o' records so I have something to do for the next month or two before we move.

still can't walk dogs, but I have been given permission to do some light stationary biking. finally got around to that today. keeping the brace for another three weeks at least.

we've had some plumbing adventures here the last week, had water in the living room near the wet bar because the drainage line backed up. emptied that out and then found roots in the line out front.

having a quiet saturday here, just finished The Paris Wife. Makes me think I should give Hemingway a second chance. also went to the store for lunches for the week and cereal. probably gonna take a nap and start the next/sixth Nikki Heat book later, haven't included those on my "things I'll admit to reading" list cause they're pretty light, like reading an episode of Castle really except the names are changed. oh well, fun stuff.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-66606620654532740692015-05-14T15:25:00.001-06:002015-05-14T15:25:44.426-06:00Now it can be told...RTO was fired a few weeks ago, but he's already accepted a new job. only thing is it's in Oklahoma City, so we'll be moving. I think he'll really like this job, it's with the Oklahoma Military Department, and my family is up there too.

Still haven't been able to walk the dogs. I see the doc again on the 19th, so we'll see if I can start up again soon. I have a gigantic brace on my leg at the moment, and people ask me what happened. hard to believe it's been over a month since it happened. The dogs haven't gone as crazy as I thought they might, thankfully. RTO walks them when he's home.

oh yeah, RTO's already working in OKC so it's making things... interesting. anyhoo, I'm busy worrying about things that haven't happened yet, like, what happens if our house sells before we find one in OKC, where will our dogs and kitties go? cause I looked at rent houses and if they even allow pets they want an arm and a leg for each one. and how much can RTO help pack. oh, gotta find a mover. yippee. hopefully Carlos will be helpful this time as well. (I joke that his liking one of the moving estimators was why I picked that company for our move to Garland from Tulsa)

Anyway, things happening here I don't think I'm allowed to talk about yet.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-48134242157411794182015-04-24T07:34:00.001-06:002015-04-24T07:34:36.117-06:00Dr. Tiny Katzendoing internet searching, I'm guessing torn ACL.

supposed to get an MRI so we'll see if I'm right.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-76816333469490893232015-04-15T11:18:00.002-06:002015-04-15T11:18:29.380-06:00show's overnothing on the radar. going to catch up some at home.

knee is still hurting... it was better when i didn't walk for a week, but then I walked and striking the set Sunday made it worse. so not walking dogs again.

started a new cross stitch project.. some bird ornaments. not nearly as difficult as the eagle thing, except there's gold metallic thread involved, ,which I hate. oh well.

oh, and I have a new niece, Scout. she was born the 1st and I went to OKC last week to see her. tiny. I've been told most babies are. ok.

got the front room painted and got rid of some high voice/soprano music in the process. freed up some space for all the stuff piled on the piano. guest bathroom is next. Matt came by last night to help get the mirror down. prolly waiting till the weekend to paint though.

we've started talking about possibly moving somewhere closer to where RTO works. but there's a lot that needs to be done. Funny how all the projects we've put off will be done just so we can leave. eh, we'll see.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-2650901296991397012015-04-01T17:23:00.001-06:002015-04-01T17:23:47.082-06:00limping over the finish line...made it through the first weekend of Mousetrap in spite of the dogs.

last Tuesday they took off after some ducks and I was determined not to let them go so they dragged me a few feet and I bent my right leg kinda funny before letting them go. so a week later it's still a little hurty, I had someone look at it, nothing broken but it will probably take two months to heal completely. I'm not limping as pronouncedly as I was the first couple days at least, so by opening night I was fine.

anyhoo supposed to lay off the knee for the next week or so and got some drugs for the pain. Dogs will have to walk separately from now on. This will eat up a bit more time than usual, but on the plus side I'm finally starting to lose some weight.

maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-33812429226612378412015-03-20T19:20:00.001-06:002015-03-20T19:20:28.617-06:00one weektil opening. had a good board preview so I don't have to go back til Monday! still am really slow at reading though.

finished my 20th book for the year last week, Inside of a Dog. or week before last, I don't remember. it seems like forever ago.

finished the eagle needle point and immediately took it to Hobby Lobby to frame it. should see it in April. yay! so I think I'm going to try a tiny sweater next. we'll see.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-26976246716369987432015-03-05T15:01:00.003-06:002015-03-05T15:01:55.721-06:00plugging alongto the point I should have my show memorized. have been trying to record, but the computer is not cooperating. have been watching tv and working on the flag/eagle thing. got the flag done and started on the eagle wing and filling in when I get tired of thinking.

Oh, haven't mentioned the new dog. Her name is Ella and she's a black lab mix about three years old. already knew sit, though I think we use it more than she was used to. anyhoo, she quickly learned not to mess with the cats. or not to chase them at least. she still stares at them and sometimes whines cause they don't like her.

still reading a bit.

and I'm turning 40 here shortly. yay!maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-20329982799178477122015-02-15T18:25:00.005-06:002015-02-15T18:25:55.966-06:00Mousetrap!got cast in this show and rehearsals have already started, although I haven't been to one yet. oh well. starting tomorrow I'll be trying to memorize lines again.

Trip to IL went fine.

made a little progress on the flag/eagle thing.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-36758114018808362342015-01-31T10:38:00.002-06:002015-01-31T10:38:51.886-06:00busy, busyfor me anyway.... RTO's grandmother died earlier this month. they had a service here in TX and there will be another in IL in February. we've been to Florida and back. I haven't been able to get back into my routine. Food tracking is going about as expected, which is not so great. I mean, I'm tracking things okay, it's just I keep blowing through my calories for the day. RTO gave me a fitbit also, walking the dog is about all the walking I do. oh well.

finished Laura's blanket and keep staring at the eagle needlepoint, but not making any progress. it just looks so complicated I can't decide where to start. I need to take an afternoon to just concentrate on it. It's actually pretty close to done... about 3/4 of the way done, just a wing and flag left before I can fill in.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-38532966510465549632015-01-06T21:40:00.001-06:002015-01-06T21:40:47.031-06:00two books down...and happy new year! mine's been kind meh so far. slept a bit much yesterday and ran around all day today. have a dentist appointment tomorrow. w007!

managed to keep up with the daily short journal only missed a couple of days last year. and this year of course, I'm still writing 14 in the blank space.

won't be much going on here till later. we're going to Florida and I haven't seen any audition notices that have grabbed me. I'm thinking I may just retire. but then I always hit that mood at some point. we're still catching up on the dvr from the last two shows I did in October. I think we've finally made it up to December at least.maggie katzenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13160748277535291079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8929432.post-41511360275132989792014-12-31T20:55:00.003-06:002014-12-31T20:55:42.685-06:00Mom RecsThe Girl You Left Behind
