blah

was chatting with the sister last night about how un-christmas we are here. previous years the tree goes up thanksgiving or the day after, rto set it up last night, but we haven't decorated it yet. (sunday we talked about whether or not to bother with the tree and i said well if we don't put it up this year it will probably no go up next year since you more than likely won't be here) i don't think he's going to put christmas lights up outside either. (he's got through thursday, then he's gone for two weeks, and there's still the bathroom floor to be grouted and sealed.) i'm not planning on making cards this year, no ideas really grab me and i can't really afford the printing at this point either. just call us mr. and mrs. scrooge. ;D

another cinderella story....

Tuesday night there were some kids in the audience. most of them related to the cast in some manner. anyway, the second act is interesting in that it switches back and forth between the ballroom and "garden" (in this case it's in front of the curtain), so prince and cinderella are up front doing their thing, the rest of us are behind the curtain waiting for them to come back..... the prince says his line "are you dreaming i'm about to kiss you?" and we here this little voice from the audience say "no!" hee hee.

opening went well last night, did some re-staging of the finale right before the show and it worked okay. the lighting guy isn't always on top of things. (hint: curtain opens, lights come on, this doesn't always happen in a timely fashion) other than that, good.

carlos Posted by Picasa

he was sitting on my lap so i snapped a few pics.

getting carried away with illustrations......

on the ride home today i brought up something i'd come across (via Mudville gazette)earlier in the week (okay maybe it was last week) about reporting from iraq.

The Marines were a fantastic audience. They were engaged and inquisitive on every point, and they were also genuinely concerned about the mainstream media's preoccupation with negative news. They felt that it's not that the negative stories — like casualty reports — shouldn't be reported, but that we never hear what America is getting for this sacrifice. As one Marine put it, it's like if I spent $7.99 for a slice of pizza and the headlines the next day read, "Marine Out Eight Bucks!"

rto added, "and he didn't even want pizza!"
MK: or he already had one in the freezer!
RTO: he probably could have got a better one for half the price.

i'm pretty sure it was downhill from there, thankfully we weren't far from home. oh, and rush was on. ;p

EDDIEEE!!!!!!!!!! Posted by Picasa

was just wondering what to post today, don't have much time. i had to work and i've got rehearsal shortly. lola sent pictures of eddie, so of course i had to post one. he's starting to look a lot like uncle carlos. (or cousin, or whatever, they are very likely related, both came from the in-laws' farm)

cinderella, cinderella, cinderella!!!!!

that's about all that's going on here right now. show opens friday. anyhoo, rto went to rehearsal tonight to see it. seemed to enjoy it. "you play an airhead really well, it's kinda scary" heh. though he didn't have an answer when someone asked if i was always so funny at home. i think the answer would be "no". cause what's so funny about sittin' on the couch all day? nuttin'

sluggish....

ugh, it's like someone came and overfilled my head with snot overnight. i'm finally breathing now. coffeeeee. so, uh, guess taking the dog out for a walk yesterday wasn't the best idea. but it was fun at the time. she seemed extra perky, probably covered twice the ground i did with all her running back and forth. was thinking she must be wind powered or solar, there was lots of both yesterday. anyhoo, it's chilly here now. i guess rto didn't want to leave the puppy out in the cold this morning. and she stayed under the bed even after i got up, until i called her, weird. was hoping today would be more productive, that's what i get for hoping. :P

part i could soooooo get into.....

cause I lu-u-uv singing off key! apparently there's a new musical aobut Florence Foster Jenkins.

man, i need to vent

but in a very non specific way.

oy. let's not talk about professionalism shall we? respect is earned, not demanded. i may have been a bit rude, but you let me get away with it. didn't think you noticed. thanks for the heads up via a group wide email. however, i don't enjoy feeling like i'm wasting my time and not accomplishing much because someone else isn't prepared. and you can't count. so there.

rto wanted to leave the spanish language channels off the tv....

cause he gets annoyed when i watch them, not that i speak spanish, but hey there's always time to learn right? anyhoo, flipping through i caught an ad for this movie. i, uh, i'm not sure how to end this post..... awaiting rto's reaction......

state of my weekend, thus far....

first off, survived an audition last night without suffering too much embarassement. i had seriously considered calling and cancelling, something just wasn't working right vocally (hairball) but i thought, what the hey!? it's a bit late to cancel and it's a friendly environment. anyhoo, it went much, much better than expected.

then, on the way home, i got to see a show! just a note for the light grey lincoln town car stopped at i 635 and centerville around seven last night, uh, i don't think your car is the best place to be watching pr0n. i'd read stories about this, but never seen it (usually they're showing cartoons) anyhoo, i know there's been some debate on the legality of adult viewing in your vehicle on the street, maybe you should keep that in mind.

rto's at drill this weekend. i had rehearsal this morning. man was i grumpy. let's just say bright lights, hyper-active teens and maggie don't mix well before noon on saturdays.

took some more flower pics this afternoon. was thinking of putting it off till tomorrow, but then i had to go outside anyway to get the puppy's collar to put back on her. not sure why she took it off, or why it took me so long to notice. squirell.

so that's the weekend so far, coming up, rehearsal for suor angelica tomorrow. hopefully i'll sit down and listen to it later today. but i think first i'll take a nap.

lemming makes good.....

soldiergrrrrrl had a photo published on yahoo. there are a few other photo links at her place.

have i left out anything important?

Veteran's Day and Catblogging.....

they said it couldn't be done.... Posted by Picasa

I couldn't find if i'd posted this before. seems the november archives are missing.? so you'll get the m.e.o.w. (morale enhancement operative, whiskered) story again. (from a friend)

I pulled MPDO last Tuesday and at about 9 PM we got a 911 call about a"viscous 25 pound cat trying to claw its way into my quarters." (We dispatched a patrol more out of curiosity than anything else.)

Since this was a slow night most of the on-duty patrols found an excuse to head over there. Turned out that this cat was the cutest and sweetest 5month-old kitten we ever saw. (Which was badly malnourished.)

In fact it was so cute and sweet that it spent most of the night sleeping in the lap of any MP who stopped moving. Needless to say, at shift change the cat went home with an MP. This left me with some trouble when I reviewed the report for this incident. SOP is that stray animals go to the animal control facility and that this fact is noted in the report.

So I simply left out any reference to the disposition of the cat and hoped that nobody would notice when I gave my brief the next morning.Well, the anal rentatives who run the PMO immediately latched on to the fact that the report was not complete in reporting the disposition of said cat.

The LTC I was briefing asked me "What happened to the cat? You left out the fact that the cat was placed in the stray animal facility - otherwise how would we know that some MP didn't take it home?"At that time he noticed that myself, the desk sergeant and the (nowcat-owning) Military Police Investigator were attempting to slide under the table. The LTC looked at me and asked me point-blank: "Sergeant - what happened to the cat?"Figuring that I was toast anyway, I replied: "Sir, the cats status was changed from 'stray' to 'Present For Duty' as a morale support specialist at an off-post housing unit."

(The stunned look on his face as he attempted to digest what I said was worth the royal ass-chewing I got from him when the meeting was over.)

carnival of the cats is at curiouser and curiouser this week.

yesterday was pretty busy....

we went out to d/fw airport to greet incoming soldiers. it was fun. then we went and voted. I have never seen so many people at the polling place. I don't think they expected many people because it's an off year and the only thing on the ballot here in rowlett was state propositions. but as rto put it "gay marriage brings out the voters" that it did. anyhoo we made it through the line, in spite of the old guy behind us in line that just. wouldn't. shut. up. woo, too much information! so i've got an interview lined up for tomorrow and maybe something else coming up. blech. i mean, YAY!!

fun rehearsal story....

we ran the second act the other night and my partner in crime and i kept messing up the step sisters' song. probably the best was when i spoonerized "pretty shade" of pink. it was one of those slow motion train wreck things. heard myself saying it, but couldn't stop in time. oh well.

be careful what you wish for.....

MK: so what's up with the coffee drinkin' lately?

RTO: what do you mean?

MK: i mean, you've gone from never drinking it to having a couple cups after you get home.

RTO: oh, i haven't been drinking coffee at work.

MK: why?

RTO: cause we have so much here, thought i'd bring it down to an acceptable level.

MK:

RTO:

MK: we have too much coffee?

RTO: yeah, there's too much coffee here, we paid for it, might as well drink it.

MK: yeah, i do that, but why drink ours faster, we'll just buy more, and you get free coffee at work.

RTO:

MK:

RTO:

MK: yeah, that's what i was thinking.

This happens every night around feedin' time. Carlos gets reeeeeeal friendly. Posted by Picasa

too cute....

the tornado sirens are testing, and Roxie is howling along. I think it's the only time i've heard her do that.

huh....

so i ran some errands this morning, get back and update the checkbook, check out the balance online and the two purchases i made are already showing up. cool. there's an ad for some other bank here where one guy buys something with his debit card while the other is on his laptop seeing how long it takes to show up. i thought they were just being silly. i guess not.

This should make rto proud.....

checking referals, someone visited here after searching for Mclaughlin Group sharpest minds at the moment i'm number three! i even beat the show's transcript library.
