went ahead

and started Winds of War even though I'm woefully behind on memorizing lines.  maybe I'm hoping for some German accent help.

bye bye wilson quarterly, sorta...

in my mailbox anyhoo, received the last print edition today in the mail. they'll be sending some other mag for the remainder of my subscription, which is Autumn 2012, so one issue.  I'd been reluctant to get the digital version because it didn't say it was the same as the print edition, I guess now that isn't a problem.  I already get Good Housekeeping in digital format. I prefer it's digital version to real simple's because it's just the magazine pages exactly as they appear in print. Real Simple uses an app and everything is foofed up navigation wise, no just turning pages, you have to go up, down, and all around to see everything.

anyway, that's what I'll be reading next, the WQ. and then next week, The Winds of War. maybe, I may put it off until I get Black Coffee memorized.

guess I probably will finish the trash I'm reading tonight

RTO's flight got cancelled and there aren't any leaving til tomorrow.  oh well.  Finished Interview with the Vampire. meh. so I'm probably going to read trash for the next week because next on the pile is Winds of War and I don't want to lug it to Oklahoma.

retail therapy....

apparently I didn't have an appointment today, but I was all dressed up so I stopped at a couple half price books stores. so, um, adding to the pile, A Confederacy of Dunces, Barrel Fever, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, House of Sand and Fog, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, and The Historian.  I also found some cds and music and comics.

And then I finished Atonement.  knowing the end from having seen the movie kind of destroyed it. All I can say is Old Briony comes off as less jerky in the book, to me anyway. but then maybe knowing what was coming helped soften it a bit. we'll never know.

so hopefully, I'll read more than one book before adding any more. Think I may have time to read Interview with the Vampire before RTO gets home and possibly read some trash.

convoluted

so, I decided to go out and use my Godiva gift certificate and the nearest one was a North Park, but you know what is next to North Park... that's' right the Half Price Books mother ship. so I stopped in and found the clearance section.... so many books for a dollar going in the pile.  The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Daughter of Fortune, The Lacuna, Bel Canto, The God of Small Things, About a Boy, Portrait in Sepia, She's Come Undone, and finally The Girls' guide to Hunting and Fishing. so I guess I'll be busy.also found a French Song Anthology for low voice, but not for a dollar. still, a good trip to the book store.

additions, additions...

added a few books to both piles a couple weeks ago... The Boys from Brazil, Sliver, The Stepford Wives, and Let the Right One In.  for randomness.

Enjoyed The House of the Spirits, unlike One Hundred Years of Solitude, most  of the characters were likable and I cared about them. I'm going to have to brush up on some South American history if I read anything else like this.

anyhoo, added some Roxanne St. Claire to the trash pile as well, cause I loved Space in His Heart. ;D
